A report prepared for the American Society of Nephrology, focuses on three overarching themes and trends over the past 4 years: the job market for new nephrologists improved in 2017 for US medical graduates (USMGs) and international medical graduates (IMGs); the job market for USMGs was significantly better than for IMGs, who represent a majority of the trainees; and lifestyle concerns, both in terms of training and practice, are important to fellows and may be discouraging applicants to the specialty.
