On September 17, 2015, a group of researchers, policymakers, and workforce experts came together to celebrate the official launch of the George Washington University Health Workforce Institute (GWHWI). Guest speakers Karen DeSalvo, Acting Assistant Secretary for Health and Tim Evans, the Senior Director for Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice at the World Bank Group, praised the GWHWI as an important national and global initiative. In addition, GW's public health dean Lynn Goldman stated that the institute will fulfill the public service goal set forth by GW’s strategic plan.
