The Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity has developed a pre-recorded mini webinar series to examine Emergency Workforce Policies to Address COVID-19.

One of the greatest risks of COVID-19 is that inadequate PPE and understaffing of frontline health workers will lead to severe fatigue and low morale, which, in turn, will further exacerbate attrition. This webinar series will focus on actions that we can take now to avoid entering a vicious cycle of staffing shortages.

I anticipate that this will be very helpful. Is there any information that the Institute has compiled about what municipalities are doing across the country? How are hospitals working with FQHCs? How are health institutions working with local training providers?
Where can we post questions? Thank you.

Rachel , thanks for your three questions - all important topics to be investigating, although there are no quick answers yet. We will push these questions out to colleagues via social media. In the meantime a few thoughts on resources:

1) A couple important organizations that you should keep your eye on to see what they are producing: Council of US Mayors: https://www.usmayors.org/ and the National Association of County Health Officials https://www.naccho.org/

2) ON FQHCs, there are a number of webinars coming out: See The Weitzman Institute ://www.weitzmaninstitute.org/news-events, and HRSA's Bureau of Primary Health Care https://bphc.hrsa.gov/emergency-response

3) On training partnerships, among others, you might see AAMC https://www.aamc.org/coronavirus-covid-19-resource-hub#services ; AANC https://www.aacnnursing.org/News-Information/COVID-19 and NLN announcements on partnerships: http://www.nln.org/newsroom/news-releases/news-release/2020/03/26/u.s.-nursing-supports-practice-academic-partnerships-during-covid-19-crisis

Hope this helps.

Hello,

There are hundreds, probably thousands of ECFMG certified US citizen physicians (FMGs); are they being considered for this work force? Many of us have expressed our interest and ready to serve.

Dear Polly & team, many thanks for this initiative. Great selection of topics and excellent videos with most interesting experiences. It is really useful and helping us as a model to expand your initiative in Latin America and the Caribbean (in addition to disseminating it through our networks). Best wishes & solidarity /JF
