About the Center

The Center for Health Pathways addresses challenges relating to the first two domains of the Mullan Institute Health Workforce Equity Framework: who enters the health workforce and how they are educated and trained.

Our goal is to innovatively support and align impactful pathway programs which will efficiently produce a health workforce with the competencies, opportunities, and courage to ensure all people attain their full health potential. We do this through convening partners, providing technical assistance, and developing and disseminating research related to health pathway programs.
  • Vision: An exceptional health workforce in every community.
  • Mission: Supporting health pathways to accelerate health workforce development.
  • Values: I-CHEER for Health Pathways; Innovation; Collaboration; Health Equity; Excellence; Representation

The Center for Health Pathways (CHP) aims to support the first two pillars of the Health Workforce Equity Framework: Who enters the health workforce; and how are they educated and trained?

CHP actively works to increase the quality and quantity of professionals entering the health workforce by supporting the recruitment, infrastructure, and evidence base of pathway programs. This Center amplifies opportunities for student exposure to, and experience in, health professions careers; accelerates pathway program success; and advances evidence around pathway program effectiveness.
The Center for Health Pathways fosters collaboration between pathway programs, K12, colleges and universities, employers, students, alumni, and health profession education associations.
We convene pathway programs to enable sharing promising practices, generate solutions to challenges, and share resources to work more efficiently.
Current partners include:
  • CDC Public Health Associate Program
  • Health Career Connection
  • New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
  • Summer Health Professions Education Program

CHP is proud to have the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health as a founding partner.
ASPPH
One of the goals of the Center is to provide technical assistance to build capacity for our partners to work efficiently and effectively.

Centralizing efforts to recruit and support program participants amplifies and accelerates efforts to: expose students to health professions; provide experiences in different health fields; and enhance their skills to prepare students for practice.

Have a health pathway challenge that you’d like to solve together? Contact Tracie Seward, [email protected].
The Center is committed to expanding the knowledge base and sharing research that expedites the learning and effectiveness of health pathway programs.

Our research team has expertise in the strengths, challenges and needs of health pathway programs and the health workforce.
