Ms. Mechum is the Communications Lead for the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity. Beth is working with the AFHE team members to implement a communications strategy that advances the recognition of the fellowship itself, the individual fellows, and the urgent need for health equity. Most recently, Beth worked in supporting schools, colleges, and universities as the Strategic Communications Manager at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
She previously worked at the University of Maryland as an Assistant Director for the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism. In addition to setting strategy as the first full-time staff member at the Povich Center, she led the launch of the Povich Center Sports Journalism Summer Camp while also teaching classes as an Adjunct Professor.
Beth received her B.A. in Journalism & Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
